Support for Bluetooth beacons

Hi Martin,

Bluetooth beacons are becoming more popular these days. I myself bought one recently with the purpose to use it for activating my Home profile.

My request is to add support for beacons in Automagic. I don't know if this should be something simple as a "Bluetooth Near" trigger (similar to the BT Near in Tasker) or something targeted specifically for beacons. Maybe for starters at least the possibility to detect nearby low power bluetooth devices would be nice to have.

I've seen that there were already requests for bluetooth near detection in the forum. Maybe it is time to pay the BT near feature a new visit

Hi,

You could periodically execute condition Bluetooth LE Device Available to scan for devices. I assume that BTLE beacons somehow provide a better way to check for the actual distance but I have to evaluate this when time permits. It's on my (long) list
