SIM locked trigger

To replace another app... how about a trigger that fires when the SIM is locked?

And I wonder if an action is possible to cause the SIM to be locked (behind its PIN)?

A trigger for this is on my todo-list. However it will most likely become an 'unofficial' trigger that will not work on all Android devices since Android provides no official API to detect sim state changes when I recall correctly.
I have not seen an API to lock the SIM. I'll take a look when I implement the trigger but my gut feeling is that such an action would require root if it's possible at all.
