(I am a Tasker user who just bought Automagic because I love the flow chart view and the less need for plugins)

In Tasker you can get the light sensor value using %LIGHT.
I rely on that heavily for my automations but my battery still survived so it's definitely worth it

In AutoMagic there is a light sensor trigger, but you cannot get the value from a condition.
Can this be added or am I missing something?

If you look at the conditon Light Level, you'll see inside the variable part of the help-section that you can use the variable light_level further on inside your flow.
Inside this condition you'll set the criteria under or over which value should end up in a 'true' exit.
