Screenshots and Samsung Gallery problem

Post by skiptannen » 28 Oct 2016 19:26

I don't know if this is a problem specific to Samsung devices or not, but I'm looking to find out if anyone has experienced this problem and figured out how to solve it. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (Android 6.0.1, not rooted) and I have written a flow that automates taking a screenshot using the action Take Screenshot (Experimental). The flow works fine and I can see the file in the DCIM/Screenshots folder, but the picture does not show up in Google Photos or in the Samsung Gallery app. The only way I can get the pictures to show up in the apps is by rebooting the phone.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to force the photo apps to refresh so I don't have to reboot?

Thanks very much.

That's a known issue since the Gallery App of Android only shows media files when the image is available in the media database. You can update the database from Automagic by adding an action Update Media Database. You can specify the screenshot file or {output_path} since it also contains the path of the screenshot.

Perfect solution that solves the problem - but I'm embarrassed that I wasn't aware of that action. Thanks Martin.
