Force 2.4GHz Wifi connection?

Post by Wibbly » 22 Mar 2019 14:27

Is there a way to force a WiFi connection to a specific WiFi BSSID. I wnt to force connection to the 2.4GHz radio (instead of 5GHz) access point that has both channels on the same SSID, and keep it at 2.4GHz. Pie (on a Pixel 2) no longer has an option to select 2.4/5.

There seems no way to force it. If the you have both channel, and you own the wifi, just change the 5Ghz one to different name and never enter the password. But if it is public and you have no control, there seems to be no workaround. You can create flow to turn off the wifi if it detects connected to 5 Ghz, but the phone will soon again connected to the strongest 5 Ghz around and the flow repeat until hit emergency stop.
