Condition-inactivity

Is there a way to set a condition for a period of inactivity? The idea is to activate the screen lock, for example, after 10 minutes of inactivity.
You can make a loop, which executes for 10 mins and stop if the user is present, but this will use more batery than anything IMO.
I turn off security when I'm at home and turn on when I'm out using Wifi connections, maybe thats good enough for you :S
