does "sync" = "update"?

Post by cklampe » 26 Aug 2013 14:59

Hello - I'm a newcomer and am trying to tell my new nexus 7 to update only when it's connected to the home wifi. My trigger is "Periodic Timer Inexact: ~every 15m". My condition is "WiFi Connected: [home wifi]" And my action is "Request Sync: Google.*,Evernote.* *"

In Google Play which I have set not to auto-update, I see an app waiting to be updated but it hasn't been even though the flow has been triggered. Do I have the right action for this?

Thanks.

Hi,

To my knowledge Google Play uses it's own mechanism to update apps and does not use the regular account synchronization feature of Android.
The action Request Sync can only request a synchronization of the data listed under Android Settings->Accounts->Google,Evernote,... like Calendar, Contacts, Gmail, Notes etc.

Martin

Hi,

do you have any news regarding the play store auto update?
I'd like to de-/activate it on some triggers, too.

Hi,

Unfortunately, no news. You probably have to resort to Control UI (or root: input tap) to switch the setting semi-automatically.
