Any suggestion on how to "notifiy" my tablet?

I'm looking for a way to pop up a message and pause my podcasts on my tablet when I get an incoming call on my phone.

Is this possible? If so can someone point me in the right direction (ie. Which actions?)

Sorry for the noob question!

Are you using headphones while listening to the podcast? I try to understand what's the main issue ...

- not to hear the phone ringing?
- to stop the podcast while you are running to pick up the phone?
- ...

BTW, AFAIK there will be a short delay to trigger a proper "handshake" between the devices.
Let's guess there are several options: to check for the changing status of a service (Bluetooth), incoming mail/SMS, transfered file, ...
and there might be some more sophisticated options available using a peer to peer connection (NFC, Wifi Direct)...?!

Greets from that other noob

Hi Bobo,

The podcasts are usually video podcasts... I'll be watching something in one room, my phone will ring in another and I'll not hear the call.

There are few apps now that do something via google play services to communicate with your other devices. For example I use the lovely timely alarm application. When it goes off on my phone it also (stops the podcast) and goes off on the tablet at the same time.

I'm wondering if that kinda of functionality is available to automagic?

You might consider installing Pushbullet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... et.android), which can mirror notifications to various devices. Once that's installed and configured, you could write a flow to act on a particular notification, such as an incoming phone call or a text message.

I hope this helps.

Awesome idea!

I already use pushbullet. I had no idea you can send (and process) notifications sent by it! I'll go investiage :)

But that means you've to get Tasker as well ...
One of the latest additions to the Tasker plug-in market is also one of the most powerful, and it’s called AutoRemote

Automagic works with all Tasker plugins perfectly! (I personally have not had any issues so far).
See "Plugin" trigger/action.

BTW, there's a new trigger called Plugin Event available in the latest version of Automagic which allows to directly act on incoming Pushbullet messages.

I now have this up and running and it works perfectly (using the pushbullet method suggested here).

Thanks ever so much for the tips folks.
