Recording Calls

Hey all,

Since some apps out there do record both parties in a call, what's preventing the ''Start Audio Recording'' from working the same way ?
At the moment when i'm using it, only my own voice is been recorded.
Thanks !

Hi,

Most phones do not allow to record the other party. I heard that this is done on purpose by the manufacturers for legal reasons.
You could try to record another audio stream like 'Voice call' or 'Voice downlink', maybe you have a phone that allows to record the calls properly but I doubt that this works. Not sure how other apps are doing this. Did you try if it really works on your device or if the app simply turns on the speakerphone to record the other party over the microphone? Maybe the other apps found some kind of unofficial hack I'm not aware of.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Yes, it really works on mine ( AT&T GS5 )

The app i tried at this time ( as i used to use another one a long time ago ) is the first result for call recorder

Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... rder&hl=en in case you want to ''study'' it...

Let me ask you another quick question;

NEXT ALARM works all the time for me except in the morning when it's time for me to wake up... I have a flow the is supposed to turn the ringer mode back to normal but
as i said, at my wake up time, it never does...
Any idea about why it could happen ? By the way i don't see any other flows interfering with it...

Thanks !

Hi,

Let me test the other app when time permits, maybe they found a workaround I'm not aware of yet. What kind of settings do you use in the app? Especially Audio source is interesting.

When the flow is not executed in the morning, does the trigger fail to execute the flow or are the actions failing for some reason. Please open the log after the flow failed (on the flow list: menu->Manage->Log) and check if you see the flow listed or not. You can also send the log to me (menu->Send Log) so I can take a look.
Are you using some kind of power saver mode at night that might prevent the trigger from working?

Martin

Hi Martin,

The app I've mentioned doesn't have any special settings as far as audio capture goes and my next alarm flow is simply not been triggered for some reason. The log was empty when I looked...on top of that, there's nothing special in regards to power saving modes...it's been charged and the ringer is set to vibrate. But again, it works all the time except on my first morning alarm.
Right after it fails/doesn't trigger, if I setup another alarm for the next minute, it works normally...

Hi,

On my device the Automatic call recorder works about the same as the action Start Recording Audio with source Microphone. The volume of the other party is very low since the recording is done using the microphone. The quality of the recording of the call recorder is very bad when option Recording volume in the settings is checked. With the setting unchecked it sounds more or less tha same as the recording of Automagic except that the loudness is in general a bit higher with the call recorder.
Can you hear the other party as loud and clear as your own voice when you use the call recorder? Are you also using option Mic in the settings section of the call recorder?

Regarding the next alarm trigger, could you please do the following:
-disable the flow with trigger Next Alarm
-go to the preferences of Automagic and enable Debug Log and Log to SD card
-enable the flow with trigger Next Alarm (this will log when the trigger will execute the flow the next time)
-wait until the flow missed to execute
-go to the flow list and send the log to me with menu->Manage->Log, menu->Send Log.

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

The app on my phone records both parties perfectly, with no problems. ..
Now as far as the NEXT ALARM trigger goes, i don't know what else to say... it simply doesn't kick in and the log was empty. Other than that all i can say is that the phone stays charging all night on vibrate mode. That's all :-(

Hi,

Are you also using option Mic in the settings section of the call recorder? Is option Recording volume enabled?

Trigger next alarm: I'm out of ideas. Please create a debug log as described in the last post, I hope that it will contain the reason for the problem.

Martin

Hi Martin,

On the call recorder app it's set to voicecall and increase volume for better quality is checked.please note that the voice is Not going through the speakers. In another words, the audio is not been captured from there.as far as the alarm thing goes I'll give up lol !! I have enabled debug mode but the log is empty because the flow doesn't start...

Hi,

Maybe you have one of the phones that allows to record calls using the Voice call audio source. You can also select this audio source in action Start Recording Audio.
On one of my Samsung test devices it seems to work. To test I've used a trigger Incoming Call. State: Off-hook, action Sleep: 1s and then Start Recording Audio: from Voice call as AAC.... Maybe this also works on your device.

Trigger next alarm should at least log when it plans to execute the flow the next time so either you did not disable and enable the flow or you are looking at the filtered log. You can remove the filter by pressing the pencil icon in the log and by removing the filter text. Automagic also opens the unfiltered log when you open the log from the flow list.

It would be helpful when you could execute the following steps:
-disable the flow with trigger Next Alarm
-go to the preferences of Automagic and enable Debug Log and Log to SD card
-enable the flow with trigger Next Alarm (this will log when the trigger will execute the flow the next time)
-wait until the flow missed to execute
-go to the flow list and send the log to me with menu->Manage->Log, menu->Send Log.

Martin
