Removing "better image quality" flag causes Automagic crash

I am trying to set up a number of custom widgets, and am having issues with getting a "Problem Loading Widget" error.
As part of my troubleshooting, I realised that some of my widgets (which just display some formatted text, nothing else) had the "Better image quality (uses more memory)" flag set.
However, when I try to remove this flag (by removing the tick in the checkbox), Automagic crashes ("Unfortunately, Automagic Premium has stopped").
I've tried rebooting, and clearing cache, but they don't help. Running Android 6.0.1 Build MMB29V on a Nexus 6 (Rooted). Automagic V1.30.0 Build 20160308_203055_7da6815. Workarounds for Automagic is installed.
Happy to provide any further information...

Hi,
Does Automagic show a dialog to submit the crash report when Automagic is restarted? If yes, could you please send the report by mail to
info@automagic4android.com. If not, could you submit the crash to Google Play?
How many widgets are you using? Are there a few particular large widgets?
Regards,
Martin

I get a message "Unfortunately Automagic Premium has stopped" with two buttons - "Report" and "OK". I've chosen "OK" and sent the report to Google Play including the system logs (there's no option to send the report directly to you).
I currently have 14 widgets defined in Automagic (some of which I am trying to display multiple times). None of them are especially large (8 of them are just 1-line text headers for my 8 home screens, so have text like "1. Applications" or "3. Media". Another - which I am trying to use 8 times, once on each home screen - displays 4 lines of information: time, date, battery level, SSID and the contents of a couple of global variables). Happy to send them to you (or screenshots) if that will help.
In case it's relevant, I'm using Nova Launcher Prime as my launcher and I am having many problems with Automagic's widgets ("Problem Loading Widget" errors). I'm still trying to do some further troubleshooting, but will post about this in a separate thread.

I've got your report in Google Play, thanks! It seems that Automagic ran out of memory. It could be caused when some of the widgets are large and Automagic is running almost at the memory limit. Unchecking the flag should reduce the memory consumption in theory but there can be situations where the memory of the old widget is freed a little bit too late by Android so there will be the old larger one and the new smaller one in memory at the same time. Maybe try to restart the device once, open Automagic and uncheck the flag as soon as possible.
I'm currently working to reduce the memory consumption of widgets so the situation should be better with the next version of Automagic. I'll post an EAP version of 1.31 as soon as it's working OK in my tests (probably within the next few weeks). Would be great if you could test if the memory improvements help on your device.

Thank you very much for the response, and I'm very happy to try 1.31 when it's available on the EAP.
I've tried unchecking the flag immediately after a reboot, but unfortunately it doesn't work, and Automagic still crashes. I've also had recent crashes from Nova Launcher - I'm inclined to suspect Automagic's widgets as (1) I've never had Nova crash before, and (2) I have around 10 other apps that display their widgets with no problems.
I've just deleted all the new Automagic widgets to see whether it will help until 1.31 is available.
I don't know how Android manages memory, nor how much Automagic can allocate to itself, but if it's of any assistance I have a Nexus 6 with 64Gb storage and 3Gb RAM. According to the system, I am currently using 17.59Gb of 54.64Gb storage, and 1.8Gb (last 3 hours) or 1.7Gb (last day) of 2.9Gb memory.
