Hi Automagic Community,
I use Automagic since almost 2 years without any issue not caused by a bug within my flows. But now I experience an issue which leaves me a little bit clueless.
Since some weeks I observe a mysterious battery drain caused by Automagic. According to battery stats it seems to use GPS even with location disabled.
I have some flows wich get activated as soon as I attach my phone to my cars power adapter and those become deactivated once I disconnect the phone. This flows are using location/speed based trigger. To save battery the normal state of those flows is DEACTIVATED. When the phone is booted everything seems to be fine until I use the location based flows once. It seems GPS is activated for some time without any reason, but when active according to battery stats it is not indicated as active in the location settings.
Is anyone experiencing a similar issue or has a hint where to look?
My System:
Nexus 4 @ Android 6.0.1 Chroma ROM
Automagic 1.30.0
The attached screenshots are showing the behavior with the phone more or less unused.
Regards Stephan

Re: Battery Drain caused by mysterious GPS usage
Hi,
I've not experienced this issue yet. Does the GPS duration shown in the settings app (3h 54m) match the duration when the Speed-trigger was activated first so it's counting the duration like Automagic never stopped to used GPS? How long was the flow using the speed-trigger active approximately?
Is the location pin shown in the statusbar even when the flow is turned off?
Regards,
Martin

Re: Battery Drain caused by mysterious GPS usage
Hi Martin,
the GPS duration does not correlate with the time sine the Speed Trigger was activated first, it seems to be just the sum of time of GPS usage. The battery graph shown in the attachment was a period where the GPS was not active intentionally at all.
When used the Speed related flows are active approx. 1h. While the flows are deactivated I never observed the location pin in the status bar, additionally the is no debug log entry created by the deactivated flows. Only in the battery stats or GSAM Battery monitor I can observe increasing time of GPS usage.
Nothing suspect in the monitoring log - sorry my phone is German

Re: Battery Drain caused by mysterious GPS usage
Hi,
This looks strange to me since the 29m reported by GSam does not match the 3h 54m reported in the settings app.
Are you using any other actions that could potentially use GPS in some way (Action Initialisiere Variable Standort, Trigger Standort oder Trigger Benutzeraktivität)?
Freundliche Grüsse
Martin

Re: Battery Drain caused by mysterious GPS usage
Hi Martin,
the report of GSam is another day, thats why it dosn't match the Setting App.
I just posted it because in this moment the GPS usage was counting up again. All flows active while not in the car are not containing locations based trigger/action, most are time based, one is using the USB connected Trigger and the last is triggered by flow.
If it helps I could send you the flows by PM, but the flows are unchanged since more than a year.
Viele Grüsse
Stephan

Re: Battery Drain caused by mysterious GPS usage
Hallo Stephan
Martin
