I like to keep the notication shade as clean as possible, and by default Automagic displays an ongoing notification. The way I use Automagic, I have no flows that themselves generate notifications.
If I choose to set the Android 6 App Notifications setting to Block all for Automagic, it removes Automagic from the notification shade, but
1. Will Automagic still run ok?
Are the only downsides that:
2. I won't be able to tell if Automagic has been unloaded for some reason (which hasn't happened to me yet as far as I know)
3. I won't be notified of an error from Automagic/one of my flows (like too many executions in a short time)? In which case I think the only workaround is I could look in the Automagic log and/or temporarily re-enable notifications for it in Android settings if I suspect errors, right?
4. There is no other way (say via a trigger/flow) that I could be informed of an error from Automagic if the notifications are blocked as above, is there?

Re: Removing Automagic from Notification Shade
You can also select 'Block all' which removes the ongoing notification of Automagic and then deactivate 'Block all' again. The notification of Automagic will not be shown until you restart Automagic. Regular notifications of Automagic can be shown and the service of Automagic should still be run reliably in the background.
You could even automate this process with action Set App Notification State on a rooted device whenever Automagic is started.

Thanks. I don't use a rooted device, but maybe I can make control of the ui reliable...
Re: Removing Automagic from Notification Shade
What's with removing the "Show status icon" checkmark? Doesn't that work with Marshmallow anymore?

Re: Removing Automagic from Notification Shade
Removing "Show status icon" is not recommended since it decreases the reliability of Automagic. Removing the check box signals Android that Automagic is not very important so Android is allowed to temporarily kill and restart Automagic when RAM is required by other apps. Leaving the option set raises the priority of Automagic to the same level like an active audio player so Android only kills Automagic when absolutely necessary and first stops other low priority background processes.
Temporarily blocking the notification has no impact on the priority of Automagic (at least not on current Android versions).

Re: Removing Automagic from Notification Shade
Never had a problem with that with either Tasker or Automagic. Not on my Nexus 5 and not on my current phone.Martin wrote:Removing "Show status icon" is not recommended since it decreases the reliability of Automagic.
