Issues with Custom Typeface on Widgets

When I try to add a custom typeface to the text on a widget, I get an error that the font could not be loaded and Automagic erases the contents of the font file that I was trying to use.

Has anybody else seen this issue or have a workaround? I know the custom fonts used to work in previous versions.

I have noticed the same issue recently and have not been able to figure out what changed.
