calendar event trigger not working
a funny thing happened on the way to the forum... I started with automagic yesterday and thought I had successfully tested a flow using the calendar event trigger. Trying it agaain today however has proven unsucessful. It just won't work no matter what I try. My phone is an LGL41C, os android 4.4.2 kernel 3.4.0. I am using the calendar app provided with the phone which is version 4.3.13 other than that, I don" know what information I need to provide, but I will set the log to debug and collect that. For what it's worth, tasker also failed to proprely respond to calender events too. I hope u can help me solve this problem. I work a varied long hour swing shift schedule so correspondence here might take a while, but I will respond to any offers of assistance.
Re: calendar event trigger not working
Hi,
Please enable Debug Log and Log to SD card in the preferences of Automagic, ensure that the flow with the calendar trigger is enabled and then create a calendar event on the device that matches the filter of the calendar event trigger. This should cause Automagic to write some information to the log including the time Automagic will execute the flow. Please send the log to me after you have done this (on the flow list: menu->Manage->Log, Menu->Send Log, send to info@automagic4android.com).
Such problems usually occur when the filter defined in the calendar trigger does not match the event, when the event is created on another device and the device does not sync the calendar due to some kind of power saver mode or when the device is in some kind of extreme power saver mode and simply does not allow Automagic to execute anything at all.

Martin

Re: calendar event trigger not working
Will do... fyi there should be no sync issue as my calendar is local... also i use no power saving settings, cache cleaners, service/process killers or ram optimizers... the service is always running... one question, my understanding is that my version of android will not allow user installed apps to write to the external card, are you sure I i will be able to log there? thanks for your prompt help and I will get back to you with the results.
Re: calendar event trigger not working
Hi,
Google changed the meaning of "SD card" in the past so nowadays it's usually named "primary external storage" which is usually located on the internal memory
. Automagic is allowed to write the log to this kind of storage. I will probably change the name of this setting in one of the next versions since real SD cards are not used anymore for this type of storage.
Writing to real SD cards (secondary external storage) on newer versions of Android is indeed only supported in a limited way by Automagic.
