Marshmallow / 6P / Audio Streams

I'm having trouble figuring out which audio streams are used or have an effect. For example it seems that setting system volume changes ring volume, I am not sure ring volume changes anything. Visibibly Android now only has 3 volumes (Alarm, Media, Ringer).

Any guidance on what is used available?

Hi,

This is something that changes with every version of Android in some way and manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, LG often change it in some other way. On a Nexus with Android 6, the following mapping seems to apply:
Alarm changes Alarm volume
DTMF changes Ring volume
Music changes Media volume
Notification changes Ring volume
Ring changes Ring volume
System changes Ring volume
Voice call changes In call volume
Bluetooth SCO changes BT call volume
System enforced changes Ring volume
