Send SMS action

I have an old (Android 2.2.2!) phone. Automagic 1.27.0 was loaded by the Play Store and is working fine on it except the Send SMS action does not have a Delivery Report Options section in it. I guess this feature was added after 1.27.0 and/or is not possible on Android 2.2.2

Anyone know of a way to emulate/duplicate this function (un-rooted phone)? I'm actually trying to ensure an SMS has been sent and to retry if necessary, as I want the SMS sending to be as reliable as possible. The GSM network takes care of re-tries if it can't deliver a SMS that was actually successfully sent in th efirst place.

Will the Send SMS action create an error if the SMS is not sent/is stuck in the phone's outbox because, say, the GSM signal is in/out of service/marginal? I think it does not This is difficult to test! I could test for GSM signal strength, but this won't actually indicate if the SMS was sent in marginal conditions, and I want the SMS sent if at all possible.

The use case/application is a "panic cord" for an elderly person. When a headphone jack is unplugged, the phone sends a SMS with its location to family members... Any ideas?

Hi,

SMS delivery reports was added in version 1.29 which does not run on Android 2.2 anymore.
Requesting a real SMS delivery report can not be achieved with other means in Automagic. Best option would be to receive the SMS on a device that runs Automagic and to send back a confirmation SMS that could be detected with Automagic on the 2.2 device again.

OK, thanks. Sadly some of the target devices are iPhones

Will look for a dirt cheap phone that runs a highter version of Android...
