Anyone know of a way to emulate/duplicate this function (un-rooted phone)? I'm actually trying to ensure an SMS has been sent and to retry if necessary, as I want the SMS sending to be as reliable as possible. The GSM network takes care of re-tries if it can't deliver a SMS that was actually successfully sent in th efirst place.
Will the Send SMS action create an error if the SMS is not sent/is stuck in the phone's outbox because, say, the GSM signal is in/out of service/marginal? I think it does not

The use case/application is a "panic cord" for an elderly person. When a headphone jack is unplugged, the phone sends a SMS with its location to family members... Any ideas?
