FTP Sync

Post by czahn » 12 Jul 2013 14:21

Hi,

i use for testing the ftp download function. If a tablet log in to a defined WLAN. A directory deletion is done before the download and it works.

But i Need to copy gigabytes of data an this will result in a long runtime if i copy all files all the time.

Please make a simple date sync Option, copy if newer. And a File deletion ind Destination (Tablet) if the file is gone at the ftp source.

THX

Christian

Great Tool !!!

I know this is almost a year later, but I would like to see some sort of differencing in the FTP upload option too.

At the moment, I want to back up our phones to local FTP space rather than GDrive or Dropbox when we go to bed and plug the power in, but the FTP upload function overwrites all files instead of skipping existing.

I've tried using the "file list" action, but I can't call the "file list" variable in the FTP upload action.

Hi,

This is something that's on my list of features under consideration, unfortunately I did not have the time to implement this yet.

If your server/NAS supports ssh/rsync, you could use this plugin to sync a folder: rsync backup for Android
This app allows to sync folders over FTP: FolderSync Lite (plugin in full version)

Regards,
Martin

Thanks, I will check those out!

The problem I have with the file variable is that the string starts and ends with [ and ], and when the FTP Upload action sees this it freaks out and fails. I can write the list (of new files only) to a text file, but I can't figure out how to edit the text file to remove those characters.

Variables containing a list usually have to be formatted properly as a comma separated list to work, something like {files, listformat, comma} and not just {files}.

Oh yes! That works!

Admittedly I haven't delved this deeply into using variables/arrays, and Foldersync works extremely well for the backup portion of my requirements... now I can trigger it to run a few minutes after our phones are plugged in (and connected to home wifi) when we go to bed rather on a schedule with a specific time (as FolderSync would have it)

The file list mode doesn't allow for two-way syncing or deleting destination files, or skipping existing... but it does (after one complete pass) then only copy new files afterwards, which is sort of what I wanted.

Thanks again for this excellent app!
