Speed saying no GPS

Post by 1-2-Hak » 02 Jun 2014 21:10

Hi Martin,

Love your app - it has made my devices what they should be - Automatic :)

One issue I have is with a new car head unit. When I try to do gps related flows its says it cant detect GPS. All other android apps detect it (Igo / GPS essentials)

Can you let me know what logs I need to send to you to look at this.

Thanks

Hi,

It's best to turn on the option Debug Log in the preferences of Automagic and then send the log and the flows to me with Menu->Manage->Log, Menu->Send Log (send to info@automagic4android.com, please also include the flows).
What action or trigger says that it can't detect GPS? Are you using some kind of security tools that could block access to GPS? Is your device rooted and Xposed/Xprivacy or something like that installed?

Regards,
Martin

I set up the logs but it doesnt even get that far.

I set up a trigger for speed and it says device does not have GPS. in red.

It is not detecting the built in GPS.

Hi,

Then your device/ROM tells that it has no GPS receiver, which seems to be an issue of your ROM when it actually has a GPS receiver. I have not yet seen anything like this before. What device, Android version and ROM are you using?

Perhaps the log reveals some information nevertheless. Could you please enable Debug Log, enable the flow that uses the trigger Speed and then send the log to me. On the flow list: Menu->Manage->Log, Menu->Send Log (send to info@automagic4android.com).

Are you using some kind of security tools that could block access to GPS like XPrivacy, AppOps, SRT AppGuard or something similar? Is your device rooted and Xposed installed?

Regards,
Martin

The unit is a Huifei head unit running Android 4.2.2

I will shoot you through the logs. All other apps that need gps see it without issue so it is stange. The device is rooted and no security blocking.

After testing the speed does actually work. It just says in red that GPS was not detected

Yep, then your Android ROM tells that it has no GPS features. Let me check if I find a viable workaround for the next version of Automagic. Ignore the red warning for now, it has no negative impact on the functioning of the trigger.

I'm hoping to use Automagic to automatically start the 'Car Record' app to record from a USB dash cam on my HeiFei Android head unit. Did you get Automagic to trigger on speed despite the 'no GPS' warning?

Is there any other relevant method of starting an app via Automagic eg on system boot, or if one app is running to start another, in this case in record mode?
