That way I know, when updating offline help, whether anything has changed in the document, so I don't hunt for changes and additions to the document while nothing has changed.
Assuming that the document is kept under version control anyway, this could be as simple as adding the proper variables, expanded by version control system check-out, when publishing the document.
Add version number + date of last modification to offline he

Re: Add version number + date of last modification to offlin
The offline help should ask whether you want to update when you first access the help with a new version of Automagic. This will not be the case for EAP-versions so it's better to access the online version or select Delete Offline Help and Download Offline Help from time to time or when something is missing.
Re: Add version number + date of last modification to offlin
"...or when something is missing." - yes, that's the point. I only know if something is missing once I see in a new version that it was added.
Therefore I will compare old and new versions for differences, e.g. additions. Without version information, I can't say beforehand whether there will be any differences, and compare both versions even if they're identical, only to find out that there were no additions, and therefore, nothing missing in the previous version.
Using online version sounds like a usable alternative, albeit not that nice from mobile connection in region with weak connectivity.

Re: Add version number + date of last modification to offlin
So you are using the EAP version of Automagic? I recommend to delete/download the offline help whenever you are installing a new EAP version of Automagic since the help is usually updated on each new EAP build.
Re: Add version number + date of last modification to offlin
Yes, I'm using EAP on two devices. I also deleted offline help, but only to install offline help again, thinking that I might get an updated version that way. This is what actually led me to posting this feature request. I can live with using offline help only on those devices, so this solution will work for me. Thank you.
