Battery saving flow

Post by Linuxmel » 20 Jan 2016 22:31

Anyone have a good set of flows for battery saving. When screen off, turn off wife, etc... I have a flow that turns on Bluetooth and data when I leave home, the trigger being
Wifi disconnected. So battery saving
Flow would have to work with this.

Brilliant typo! Having Automagic 'turn off wife' is an enhancement that I've just got to see :-) :-)

I have a flow I manually choose run at night and in the morning to put the phone in/out of a "text-and-talk only" mode (at night I only want to receive emergency notifications which will come as txts and calls, plus alarms). I have very good 3G coverage and the flow

- Turns on battery saver mode
- Disables data
- Turns off WiFi (no data being used anyway)
- A separate flow turns off Bluetooth once my Pebble watch is sleeping too

If battery saver mode is already on it reverses these changes. It uses the Control UI action so is quite ROM specific. In this mode I see ~0.3%/hr battery drop - almost as good as switching off the phone. If I didn't need txt and calls (but still wanted alarms) I would just try airplane mode which might achieve something very similar.

I also have a flow which detects when I'm on home Wifi and changes to 3G only mode. I have strong 3G and weak 4G at home. Locking to 3G saves power as the phone doesn't search for and lock on to a weak 4G signal. Maintaining a connection to a weak cellular signal is a battery killer. Also uses Control UI action.
