Tablet power up/down w vehicle keyed ignition?

Hello all,

I have an old flow written to power up and down with accessory power on and off, but it doesn't seem to actually work , and I'm being told that my tablet needs to be rooted...?
Currently Automagic is installed on a Google Nexus tablet, but I'm looking to swap to a 10 inch tablet that has micro sd capability so I can replace my ipod and heavy Alpine head unit system. I have not chosen a brand or model yet.. ideas would be great. I hve android phones.. would using an apple tablet be easier.. or is that indifferent to my needs?

Any ideas as to proper flows and hardware and software/OS states to be able to have the dash mounted tablet turn on and off with the cars ignition, using the charger port state as the trigger?

To turn on tablet/smartphone on connecting charger, the bootloader of the device has to support that feature.
I've used two androids in car for similar purposes and my Sony Xperia device (Rom CM11) would boot on connecting charger but Samsung device (Rom CM11) won't, instead it shows battery charging animation. So that depends on device.

Instead You can make flows in automagic to detect ignition activity and turn the screen on and perform set of tasks and shutdown on turning off engine - but device must be turned on and in sleep at the first place
